A Crowded Bus on a Hot Day

A Crowded Bus on a Hot Day

A crowded bus on a hot day is a complete nightmare: sweltering, sweaty, dizzy, and even vomiting. The stream of air is altogether stopped, and the sun is shining disgustfully. You cannot count on the air conditioner solving the problem, because it doesn’t play its role in such a situation. Beads of sweat run down through your body, and your T-shirt soon will look like you’ve tumbled down in a pool. It smells so sweaty in the bus, because all of the passengers are sweating as much as you are. Everybody in the bus does not seem quite happy. Even some blessed people who could get their seat are suffering from the heat and the smell, poor standing passengers, in addition, pant from both physical and psychological pressure. A crowded bus on a hot day is often covered with uncanny silence because nobody wants to enjoy talking with anyone. All you hear in this sauna-like conveyance will be somebody breathing with difficulty or complaining of the level of the discomfort index, which makes you more and more irritated. A crowded bus will make you want to purchase your own car, and even make an action against global warming.

The Co-op of University of the Ryukyus (the Central Store)

The Co-op of University of the Ryukyus (the Central Store)

There are two co-ops in University of the Ryukyus: Chu-ou Ten(the central sore) and Kitaguchi Ten(the northern branch), and I’d especially like to focus on Chu-ou Ten. It is a white, two-floor building located on nearly center of the site of Ryudai, selling a variety of food, beverages, confectionery, books, texts, magazines, dictionaries and stationery. Now, let’s go inside; going up the slope to open the door, then you may encounter a pillar on your right, and the shop stands over there. Chu-ou Ten consists of three sections; the food and drink corner, stationery corner, and book corner. The food and drink corner occupies the left space, the nearest to the entrance. Food is lined on the far-left four shelves, confectionery is taking the next three shelves, and beverages are cooled behind them. Stationery corner is located on the center of the shop and sells a variety of pens, erasers, notes, and files. Notes and printing paper is displayed on the left shelf and pens and erasers line on the opposite, and files and binders stand on the back shelf. The rest of the space is assigned to the book corner, which is selling books, novels, magazines and dictionaries. Chu-ou Ten is loved by the students and teachers of Ryudai.

My Favorite Place

My Favorite Place

My favorite place, it is the room of my grandfather. I have spent, and now spend many hours there watching sumo, reading magazines, and listen to his story about the WWII. Although the room doesn’t have much space, there lie many things: a bed, a chair, a table, a bureau, and a TV. There is hardly any place to run about and perhaps that’s why I became an indoor person. When it rains, I used to open the window and enjoy catching drops of water that fall down from the eaves. That made him very upset because the water comes in the room, but I really liked it. Grandfather’s room was also my refuge from my parents’ scolding, when I got scolded, I always ran into the grandfather’s room and sulked in bed. He always made me a rice-ball to wake me up and stop crying. For twenty years, my favorite place has always been the same, and I wish it will be.

How to Have a Safe Vacation

How to Have a Save Vacation

It is certain that everybody wants to spend a safe, enjoyable vacation, so here I suggest some ways to make your vacation safe. First of all, what is most important is to keep your attention not to meet danger. Numbers of accident and injury come from carelessness, so you shouldn’t forget paying attention to your surroundings. Second, you’d better bring an aid kit with you everywhere you go. This will help not only yourself, but your friends, girl/boyfriend, and people around you when they get injured. It is also important to know how to deal with a sudden injury. Third, you should make a elaborated plan before you go on a trip or a picnic. When my friends and I went to Yanbaru, we hadn’t had any timetable. And the result was a disaster; we had to spend a night in a car. So I strongly recommend you to make a firm schedule when you go out. Here was my advice, please keep it in mind and have a good vacation!

My Refrigerator

My Refrigerator

In my house, we have a middle-sized gray refrigerator which has a lot of food and drink inside. It has three shelves, a drawer and two door-side pockets. On the top shelf, there is a pack of sliced pork, two fish, and cases of frozen food such as green peas, corn, and croquettes. On the next shelf are seasonings; miso, soy sauce, butter, cooked seaweed, strawberry jam, kimchi, and pickled plums. They are neatly arranged so that we can put in and take out easily: Frequently-used stuff such as miso, soy sauce and butter are put in the front, and other things are sitting in the back. On the third shelf lies a bottle of green tea, coke and mineral water. In the drawer, there are greens and fruits such as a quarter of a cabbage, an onion, carrots, and an apple. Each of them is wrapped and separated so as not to influence one another. Finally, on the door-side pockets there is a pack of milk, a bottle of vegetable juice, mayonnaise, ketchup and eggs in order. Things in our refrigerator are not perfectly organized, but keep neatness.

How to Get F in a Class

How to Get an F in a Class

Sometimes, for the certain students, earning F can be more difficult than earning A. You don’t have to worry, it’s easier than learning your A B C’s. So come on take a look at the following advice, and make your report card all-F. First of all, in order to get F in a class, the simplest and easiest way is to skip it. You don’t need any special effort or study to get an F, contrary to getting A. Just keep skipping the class and it will bring you an automatic F, but it can be an extreme method for a diligent student. For those, I have a few ideas. The second way is to skip your assignment, it not only bring you an F, but also save your time. The last way is to turn the classroom into your bedroom, on this way you can get an F while having a good dream. You can use any of these methods, but I strongly recommend the first way because it takes no time, money, nor a special effort. I hope these methods make you earn many Fs and enjoy your campus life.

How to Live on a Small Budget

How to Live on a Small Budget

We students always run short of money, aren’t we? Today I will give you a few little secrets to save your money and lead a better and happier campus life. First, if you have a car or a motorcycle, be a good driver. It may sound nonsense, but careful driving will bring your car (or motorcycle) good mileage, and you will save more money. Second, keep an accounts book. It will remind you where you waste your money. Finally, I suggest you to make a big shopping day once a month. You can spend money with no limit on the day. Maybe you can control your desire if you can spend more money on a bargain sale. Here were my suggestions, hope this helps…

How to Clean My House after a Party

How to Clean My House after a Party

If I had a party at home, I clean up the table at first. After that, I do the dishes. Then, I pick all the trash into a garbage bag and throw it away. Finishing these chores, you’ve already done 60% of cleanup, indeed. Then, I put things on the right place, vacuum around the room, and wipe it up. Finally, I move into the bathroom, the hardest job. I clean up my bathroom especially thoroughly because the bathroom is said to reflect the user’s heart. After cleaning up the bathroom, I can finally fall asleep. Buying grocery will be the tomorrow’s task.

My Father

My Father

My father is a taxi driver. I’m sure he knows all the roads and streets of the Okinawa Island. He’s been driving the midnight streets of Okinawa from before I was born. He married my mother and had three children. Since he’s back home early in the morning, we usually have little time to talk with each other. This made me feel lonely and sometimes angry when I was a little child. But now I understand that he works hard for his family, so I’m trying to be good to my father.

My Classmate

My Classmate

I’d like to introduce to you one of my friends, Yoshito Uezu. He’s a cheerful good guy. He was born on Chatan and raised in Ginowan. He was now 20 years old, he’ll be 21 next Nov. 28. He’s a sophomore student of Ryudai, his major is linguistics. He has his father, mother, older sister, and younger brother.

His hobbies are playing footsal. I’m sure he’s a good footsal player. He didn’t belong to a football club at his high school days, but he was playing football with his friends once a week or more often. So I believe he’s a fantasista.

He has a dream. His dream is to become the CEO of the famous coffee shop Starbucks. He’s working as just a barista at Mihama, Chatan now, but he says he’ll do it in 20 years. If he does, I’ll be able to drink the coffee for free every day! He also wants to raise his own fashion brand, too. I’m looking forward to shopping at Yoshito Uezu at Paris someday.

He loves music. He listens to a lot of music. One of his favorite artists is Hideaki Tokunaga.

That’s my introduction of Yoshito. Thank you for reading!! Ryuta Uehara

Self introduction

Hi, my name is Ryuta Uehara. Call me Ryu. I’m a sophomore student of the University of the Ryukyus. I was born and raised on Okinawa. I’ve never been to other countries. I want to study abroad someday soon, especially America. That’s why I’m studying English hard now.

I have 5 family members: Grandfather, father, mother, and 2 sisters. One of my sister, who is a senior student, is living in Kagoshima. Thus, I actually have 4 members now.

I’m interested in other languages such as Spanish, Chinese, French, and Korean. I’d like to be a speaker of all of these languages. It may be a long road, but it will be fun. I’ll be able to travel around the world if I master all of these languages. That’s my dream.

I like listening to music. I usually listen to pop music. I have many favorite singers. One of my favorite singers is Coldplay. Their music makes m e chill.
